PSYCHOLOGICAL TYPES, BODY PARTS AND THE VIRGINIA SATIR'S TYPES

NLP & NLP 3Each body part corresponds to a different mental focus.

When we focus on abdomen we focus on internal sensations, while when we focus on the head we focus on the external world. Our mind operates in deep connection with our body and certain actions which we think are purely mental, many times are in fact physical. A different constant focalization on different parts of the body creates different body types. We can recognise these types even through non verbal communication. We distinguish three different types of personality: Head centered = Using the most the sense of seeing = Volitional = Virginia Satir call it "Blamer" Lungs centered = Using the most the sense of hearing and speaking = Arguing, logical = Virginia Satir call it "SuperLogical" Abdomen centered = Using at the most internal sensations = Kynesthetic = Virginia Satir call it "Propitiatory" Feet centered = a mix of the precedent New meanings for shortcuts of sensory channels. In order to overcome the fact that what NLP calls "sensory channel" is far more than the sensory channels, and not changing completely the terminology, we find very useful to use the letter V, A, K, as shortening for different concepts: V => Volitional: it means a person using WILL for acheiving his. Many time he will use the sense of seeing A => Arguing: it means a person using Discussion and Arguments to have reason. Many time he will listen and speak (hearing) K => Kinesthetical: from the greek Koinos (together) and Aesthesis (to feel) it means to put together many feelings and in this way it could correspond very well to the fact of putting together all emotions represented by the chinese five elements.
